2nd Sunday of Lent Year B

As we continue our Lenten journey towards Easter Celebrations, the message from the readings this week is on faithfulness and trust. We are reminded of God’s faithful love and generosity, and if we can listen to His voice and place our trust in Him.

Abraham’s trust is seen in his obedience to offer his only beloved son as sacrifice. Seeing his trust in Him, the Lord rewards Abraham with more blessings than he could have imagined. The Psalmist gives thanks to the Lord for setting him free and promises more trust in Him. Like the Psalmist, we can also rejoice as we walk in the presence of the Lord, even if afflicted by life’s events that are difficult and challenging.

In the second reading, Paul echoing the story of Abraham and Isaac, challenges us to recall the greatness of God’s love. He loved the world to a point of giving up his Son. With Jesus at the right hand of God pleading for us, we must now increase our trust in him. In the Gospel, Peter, James, and John, wonder what rising from the dead mean. Jesus asks them to trust him and remain faithful to him as he is faithful to his Father. The same is extended to us to love and trust the Lord by listening to his voice and walking in his presence.

Christian Action This Week: Increase your trust in the Lord by listening to Him.

Joy and Peace.
