25th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A.

Seek the Lord!

Friends,

The generous love of the Lord is very close to us. Thus, the readings this Sunday remind  us that in seeking the Lord, we will receive a warm and forgiving welcome, no matter who we are. Prophet Isaiah in the first reading, invites us to seek and find the Lord who is near to us. In doing so, God will embrace us with a rich forgiveness. The Psalm is a blessing song of wonder and awe to the Lord who is close to us, full of compassion, abounding in love and kindness.

St. Paul, confidently convinced of the closeness of Christ, writes a letter to the Philippians encouraging them to focus their lives to Christ. Similarly, we are encouraged to focus our lives on the Gospel values of Christ. Therefore, the parable of the workers in the vineyard presents an encouraging, and perhaps a challenging image of the generosity of God. We are then invited to accept this generosity for ourselves and express it towards others. If this seems too hard for us to comprehend, let us take heart that the ways of the Lord are very different from our ways.

God is close to us with his compassion and mercy, and open to embrace us. As a Christian community of mercy and compassion like God, let us change our world with God’s love and mercy.

Joy and peace.
