THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

15/08/2018

Mary magnifies the Lord. In her magnificat she begins: My soul magnifies the Lord…She is proclaiming the greatness of the Lord.

Mary invites us to see the greatness of God in our lives and be filled with joy and gratitude. Unless God is great in our lives we lose the divine dignity and become small gods to ourselves. Joining Mary to sing the magnificat is to make God present in our lives both public and private life and to allow him to make us great.

If God misses in our lives we cannot be great. If God disappears in our lives we lose the divine dignity and become blind.

Mary’s life is expanded to greatness by sharing in the resurrection of her son. She invites us too to be sharers of the same dignity of her son’s resurrection and heavenly joy.

She is our mother, she is the mother of the church and she cannot forget her children.
